International CollaborationCOMU is one of many units worldwide that monitor government-owned companies. COMU has been active in leading the establishment of the International Network of Government Ownership Agencies (INGOA), a worldwide network of organisations with a similar monitoring function. INGOA was formed in 2005 as a mutually beneficial, non-political association of governmental shareholding and/or monitoring organisations. Its purpose is to enable government organisations concerned with the practice of government ownership of enterprises to improve their performance by learning from each others' experience and knowledge. The network is concerned with practical issues and aims to be as informal as possible. To date, an advisory committee has been formed consisting of representatives from Australia, Canada, Malaysia, the United Kingdom and South Africa. COMU has recently completed the development of the INGOA website, www.ingoa.net. The website contains a secure discussion forum that enables participants to discuss issues and share knowledge in relation to the practice of government ownership of enterprises.
